J’ai la chance d’être entouré par de nombreux artistes, comédiens et même quelques producteurs. J’ai toujours adoré le théâtre et c’est sans doute l’une des nombreuses choses qui m’ont lié à ma conjointe qui est elle-même comédienne, metteure en scène et productrice. Il n’est donc pas rare pour moi de profiter de ces divers événements pour prendre des photographies, faire des vidéos ou même tout simplement écrire.
En 2019, l’un de mes amis, Johnny Cortes (aussi bien ancré dans ce domaine), a produit et mis en scène, en collaboration avec son collègue Eric Elliot Lee, la pièce de théâtre Den of Thieves écrite par Stephen Aldy Guirgis. On m’a offert de prendre des photographies des comédiens et de la générale, offre que je me suis empressé d’accepter.
D’habitude, j’aime bien repousser les limites de mon téléphone intelligent pour prendre des photographies, mais je savais que dans ce contexte où il ferait très sombre et où je ne pourrais me rapprocher des comédiens pendant la pièce, il était de loin préférable que je me munisse de mon appareil SONY a6300.
C’est toujours très agréable de capturer des images pour une pièce de théâtre. Le jeu des comédiens amplifie les émotions. Tout ce que j’ai à faire, c’est de figer le bon moment. Dans le cas de Den of Thieves, c’est une comédie noire, alors il y avait beaucoup de matière variée à travailler à la fin du shooting.
J’ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à travailler sur ce projet. Malheureusement, en date d’aujourd’hui, c’était l’un des dernières fois que j’ai pu photographier un projet théâtral. J’espère bien que de nouvelles opportunités se présenteront bientôt.
Den of Thieves
I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by many artists, actors and even a few producers. I've always loved theatre, and it's probably one of the many things that have linked me to my wife, who is herself an actress, director and producer. So it's not unusual for me to take advantage of these various events to take photographs, make videos or even just write.
In 2019, a friend of mine, Johnny Cortes (also well entrenched in this field) produced and directed, in collaboration with his colleague Eric Elliot Lee, the play Den of Thieves written by Stephen Aldy Guirgis. I was offered the chance to take photographs of the actors and the dress rehearsal, an offer I gladly accepted.
I usually like to push the limits of my smartphone to take photographs, but I knew that in this context, where it would be very dark and I wouldn't be able to get close to the actors during the play, it was far preferable to bring my SONY a6300 camera.
It's always a pleasure to capture images for a play. The acting amplifies the emotions. All I have to do is freeze the right moment. In the case of Den of Thieves, it's a dark comedy, so there was a lot of varied material at the end of the shoot.
I really enjoyed working on this project. Unfortunately, as of today, it was one of the last time I was able to photograph a theatre project. I look forward to new opportunities soon.
